The Journal Index
|
The DGS has published a Journal for its members from its founding in 1970. The original objective of the DGS was to further knowledge of the genealogy, heraldry and family history of the Daltons of Lancashire and Yorkshire. In 1975 the objectives of the Society were broadened to embrace all those who bear the surname of Dalton and membership was opened to anyone bearing the name Dalton. The Journal provides the medium for achieving the objectives of the Society to promote research and investigation into the name Dalton, the results of which are published in the Journal.
In 2002 the Society decided to make back issues of the Journal available to Daltons world wide. They are an authoritative work of reference on Dalton family history. "The First Seven Journals" were offered as a group and the indexes were printed in the DGS web page, Daltons in History. This impressive set of Journals was primarily the work of the Chairman, Michael Neale Dalton, founder of the DGS. The set is now available through this web site.
Commencing January 2003, Journal Indexes will be added in increments as indicated below. Volumes 8-20 consist of two parts each volume and each part may be ordered separately. Browse the indexes or use several different identifiers such as place name, date, etc. to enhance your keyword search since actual data/keywords within an index is limited.
Use the order form that contains complete instructions and send it to your local DGS Secretary. If you appreciate the efforts that the Society is making in behalf of Daltons world wide, may we suggest that you support its efforts with membership. Our appreciation is extended to Dr. Lucy J. Slater of Cambridge, DGS committee member who compiled the Indexes. If you have any questions, please contact: Millicenty@aol.com
